Project Overview

Urban United Association is a New York–registered nonprofit organization supporting charitable and community-focused initiatives in disaster relief, education and culture, environmental protection, and public health. Its work also promotes cultural exchange, youth development, health awareness, educational enrichment, diversity, and positive community impact.

Our role was to design and develop a professional website that could clearly communicate the organization’s mission, showcase its programs and previous events, recognize its partners, and encourage greater community participation.

The objective was to transform Urban United Association’s work into a structured and engaging digital platform that would serve volunteers, donors, partners, community members, and individuals learning about the organization for the first time.

The Challenge

Urban United Association has supported a wide variety of charitable initiatives, cultural programs, competitions, educational events, fundraising activities, and community partnerships.

The organization needed a website capable of presenting this extensive history without making the user experience feel crowded or difficult to follow.

The primary challenge was organizing several different types of information, including:

  • The organization’s history and mission
  • Its primary areas of charitable work
  • Community programs and cultural initiatives
  • Previous events and campaigns
  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Partner organizations
  • Donations and ways to become involved
  • Content presented to a multilingual audience

The website also needed to establish credibility while maintaining a welcoming and community-centered appearance.

Our Approach

Website Strategy

We structured the website around the questions a new visitor would most likely have:

  • Who is Urban United Association?
  • What causes does the organization support?
  • What programs and events has it organized?
  • How has it contributed to local and global communities?
  • How can someone volunteer, donate, partner, or participate?

This approach helped turn a large amount of organizational information into a clear journey that introduces the mission before directing visitors toward programs, previous work, and opportunities to become involved.

Website Design

The design was developed to feel welcoming, credible, and community-oriented.

The visual direction focused on:

  • A clean and accessible page structure
  • Strong introductory sections communicating the mission
  • Prominent use of organization-provided event imagery
  • Clearly separated content sections
  • Consistent typography and spacing
  • Easy-to-identify calls to action
  • A visual balance between written information and community photographs
  • Responsive layouts across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices

The website uses imagery to demonstrate the organization’s real-world involvement while the layout gives each program, event, and organizational message enough space to remain understandable.

Website Development

The website was developed as a scalable platform that could support Urban United Association’s current information and future activities.

Key areas of the website include:

  • A mission-led homepage
  • An organizational history section
  • Purpose and program categories
  • Past-event highlights
  • Individual event pages
  • Partner recognition
  • Volunteer information
  • Donation pathways
  • Featured-event content
  • Contact and participation opportunities
  • Mobile-responsive navigation
  • Bilingual or multilingual content presentation

The development process focused on making the website manageable as the organization continues adding new events, initiatives, partnerships, and community updates.

Organizing the Organization’s Mission

Urban United Association supports multiple areas of charitable work, so it was important for the website to communicate the organization’s purpose in a concise and organized way.

The website presents its primary focus areas alongside the broader outcomes its programs are designed to promote, including cultural exchange, health and well-being, education, youth development, diversity, and community impact.

This structure helps visitors quickly understand that the organization’s work extends across several connected causes rather than being limited to one type of charitable program.

Showcasing Previous Events

A major component of the website is its presentation of previous events and community initiatives.

The website highlights programs such as donation campaigns, music and talent events, Alzheimer’s awareness activities, youth competitions, cultural festivals, environmental programs, and charitable partnerships.

We designed this section to operate as a visual archive of the organization’s work.

Instead of only describing the nonprofit’s mission, the event portfolio provides visible examples of how Urban United Association has put that mission into action. This strengthens the organization’s credibility and gives potential donors, volunteers, and partners a clearer understanding of its capabilities.

Designing for Community Participation

The website was designed not only to provide information but also to encourage participation.

Calls to action guide visitors toward opportunities to:

  • Learn more about the organization
  • Explore previous events
  • Become a volunteer
  • Support charitable initiatives
  • Participate in upcoming programs
  • Connect with the organization
  • Develop potential partnerships

Volunteer content emphasizes that different levels of participation can contribute to the organization’s work, whether someone supports events directly or helps behind the scenes.

By placing these pathways throughout the website, visitors are not required to search extensively before finding a way to become involved.

Supporting a Multilingual Audience

Because Urban United Association connects Chinese communities with broader local and international audiences, the website needed to support communication across languages and cultures.

The design accommodates English and Chinese content while maintaining a consistent layout and visual hierarchy.

This was important for ensuring that translated information remained readable, organized, and visually connected to the same overall brand experience.

The multilingual presentation also helps the website better serve community members, donors, volunteers, and partner organizations from different cultural backgrounds.

Building Trust and Credibility

For a nonprofit organization, the website must establish confidence before asking visitors to donate, volunteer, or participate.

We incorporated credibility-building content throughout the website, including:

  • The organization’s history
  • Its nonprofit background
  • Mission and charitable focus
  • Photographs from previous initiatives
  • Event archives
  • Partner recognition
  • Volunteer information
  • Clear descriptions of its community work

Urban United Association states that it was registered as a nonprofit in New York and received public-charity status in 2013. The website also presents its history of local and international charitable projects and partnerships.

Presenting this information clearly helps visitors understand that the organization has an established history and an active record of community involvement.

The completed website gives Urban United Association a professional digital platform through which it can communicate its mission, document its work, and engage its community.

The website helps the organization:

  • Clearly explain its charitable mission
  • Present several focus areas within one cohesive structure
  • Showcase previous events and initiatives
  • Demonstrate its history and community involvement
  • Recognize volunteers, donors, and partners
  • Support English- and Chinese-speaking audiences
  • Encourage volunteering and participation
  • Create pathways for donations and collaboration
  • Maintain an organized archive of its work
  • Add future programs and event content as the organization grows

The final result is a welcoming, informative, and scalable nonprofit website that connects the organization’s mission with visible evidence of its community impact.
